AGE EXPLORER® by Blum

Understanding the customer's needs is important in Kitchen Design especially when the customer has age-related limitations such as stiff joints, muscle fatigue and impaired vision & hearing. Blum Age Explorer lets you understand what restrictions these limitations create so an ergonomic solution can be designed.

FAQs

Common Questions & Answers

Do I need to replace my flooring or can the design keep the same layout?
Yes, we can design the kitchen to cover the existing footprint so you don’t need to change your flooring, especially if the floor flows into other areas.

Can I just replace doors and benchtops?
The most expensive part of the kitchen is the cabinet fronts, drawer fronts and benchtop.  So to try to keep the existing internal cabinet material doesn’t always save you money. We may still need to disassemble the units in order to get the tall panels around your pantry or wall oven. Usually for a small percentage more you can get a whole new kitchen which means a new layout and new design to work better for you.

Why choose an independent kitchen designer?
When getting quotes for your new kitchen, it is very easy for companies to get a “cheaper “price for you. Sometimes this means not providing you with the best quality products or even the best layout. An independent kitchen designer will look at your space, your requirements and your dreams and produce a design that is right for you. Many times our customers are surprised that they haven’t been given those options before. Of course, if you want to just replace your kitchen and have a certain budget in mind, then your independent designer will be able to come up with a design that can be priced accordingly.

Why choose a designer rather than a salesperson?
Many kitchen companies hire sales people who have little or no experience as a designer or especially in kitchens. Unfortunately, in the industry in Australia this is evident. By having someone who has design experience they are trained to design to suit a clients, needs, wants and also know what can and can’t be done through their experience. This makes a HUGE difference when it comes to your new space. A salesperson’s main goal is to sell. A designer’s main goal is to create a design that the customer will love!

How come I can’t compare apples to apples?
When comparing your quotes, it is important to know what you are getting. With all the different options, finishes, products, hardware etc available it is hard to know exactly what the difference is between your quotes. That’s why many times when people get quotes; there can be a wide range of difference in the price. It is hard to know what one company is quoting compared to the next. Specifically asking for certain products & finishes will assist you in being able to compare apples to apples. That’s why it is important to know what design is right first.  Not all materials are the same and some suppliers will use inferior products to slip in with the lowest bid.
